To connect an MDF image on Debian GNU / Linux - MDF and MDS file

I need to connect to the MDF (MDF) image files on my Debian Linux. I have never used. Extension MDF files before, so I had no idea what file type, so I made a quick research on Google to educate yourself, what is the MDF file format?

I found an article on ehow.com What is the name of the MDF and MDS Wikipedia article on the MDF and MDS file pair
In short cd9660 as MDF is produced by some ISO format and burn CD image creation software such as Alcohol 120%
The included file MDS file. MDF. It is. MDS is an optional metadata descriptor file that describes what is contained in the MDF. (Eg ISO file).
MDF is the standard format as in the past by means of an ISO to a CD or DVD optical image, but still produced a few programs.

MDF and MDS file pairs are usually made of two well-known MS Windows:

    Alcohol 120%
    DAEMON Tools

Both non-free software program, with few exceptions - at least freeware Daemon Tools.
Therefore, the MDF format is far from popular users of GNU / Linux and * BSD, and is widely used on Microsoft Windows.

On Windows, there are many programs that can read and open the MDF file extension:. Two such programs + MagicISO is one of the many programs that support / installation (Create a virtual disk) for MDF file.

In opearting Free (Linux / BSD), there are two GUI program that is able to mount the MDF file:

    Furiusisomount
    AcetoneISO

I tried both, for testing. But with mounting MDF FuriosIsoMount failed. I tried to connect with FuriousIsoMount initiated a program with both a non-root and root privileges. The program is able to detect the file. MDF, I can browse files, and it looks like it's even better when it is mounted MDF pressing on the mountain, but the mount point remains empty.

With the right AcetoneISO MDF installation is possible but only when the program runs with root privileges. With non-root I get an error:

Error can not attach a picture.

Can not open MDF AcetoneISO error messages Debian GNU / Linux

There is also an alternative route the command to connect the MDF image;

A. Use mdf2iso convert MDF files to ISO image
Other usual Use Linux mount command for connecting the ISO9660 file is converted

In Debian, you can also mdf2iso deb package.
To install:

linux: ~ # apt-get install - yes mdf2iso

A. MDF to ISO conversion mdf2iso

To change the mdf ISO image mdf2iso cmd I can use:

hypo @ linux: ~ / iso $ mdf2iso MDF MDF-min iso-file.mdf
Salvatore Santagati mdf2iso v0.3.1
Licensed under GPL v2 or later
47% [:> =========:]

Other Mount ISO file with the newly rebuilt mountain cmd

linux: ~ # mkdir / mnt / ISO
hypo @ linux: ~ / MDF iso $ mount-t ISO9660-o loop my-MDF-iso-file.iso / mnt / ISO

Now your MDF will be mounted on / mnt / ISO :)
